Important Changes for 2006:
Age Up Policy - The USAT Board has voted to use an athlete's age as of Dec. 31 to determine his/her racing age group. If an athlete is due to "age-up" into the next group, it will happen at the beginning of the year, not after the athlete's birthday. This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program and its new Grand Prix Series.
Reduced Youth Membership Fee - USA Triathlon is excited to announce that in 2006, the annual membership fee for youth triathletes(age 7-17) will be reduced to $5. Youth annual memberships will be required for a youth triathlete to participate in any USAT sanctioned event. A major benefit for parents is that they will not be required to attend every race registration to sign their child's waiver. They will sign up their child ONE TIME for a low membership fee of $5 at the beginning of the year, and youth triathletes will be eligible to compete in all triathlons for the remainder of their annual membership.
Please direct all questions regarding these changes to USAT Membership Services at membership@usatriathlon.org or 719-955-2807.
